Gun Show Report; Houston, TX George R. Brown Convention Center

Went to the gun show today at the convention center and there were lots of firearms, pistols but not too many AKs and what they had in AKs were the Norincos, etc, no badasses. Ammo (7.62x39) was 8 dollars a box! Wolf Brand. I saw lots of cool Sigs certified used for 500 and new ones for 800+, new Glocks for 448 which I thought was a badass deal. I didnt buy anything, I am good in that respect. I did almost buy a Colt AR15 with movable stock chambered for .22LR for 449 brandnew but decided not to. Anyway lots of people and weapons. Anyone go?

Didn't go to this one, went to the last one.. it was ok. Almost bought the Colt ar22 too. Got home, read the reviews, and was glad I didn't.

Next time you go, give me a shout.

Will do, I didnt plan on going I just saw the signs they have on the freeway and said, hell, Ill go, you know the signs they have for accidents and travel times and missing old people and kidnapped kids they have on the freeways...
Also they had Jennings Pistols for 179 bucks! I think it was Jennings or Jiminez, anyway, the the ones with a HUGE top and just a POS along the lines of Lorcin, etc.. and people were buying em up! I said pretty loud youll prolly get 2 shots before they jam and the dealer didnt like that too much I dont think. But what a piece of crap!

It may have been the Jiminez

Those Norinco AKs are pretty 'badass', some of the best AKs you can get.

But mine is different than the one in the link (the furniture) and at the time I paid 779 and as you can tell from my pic, mine is all wood furniture, the Norinco at the show was for 330 or so...theone I have also is very accurate...

That sure is a purty rifle, but your 'badass' Russian AK lacks the dimples in the receiver at the mag well. I have no idea why the Izhmash plant would fail to press those dimples in the receiver.

The Norinco AKs (as well as the Valmets and the Yugos) have stamped receivers that are 1.5mm thick, not the usual 1mm thick which is probably what that Russian AK of yours is (although I'm not sure). The Norinco AKs represent the best value, and if you saw one for 330 that was a smokin' deal since the Norinco AKs are no longer imported. I've seen the Type 56S Norincos selling for around $1k locally or even more on gunjoker. The MAK-90 is the same rifle except it has the butthole stock and those can be found for around $600 - still a reasonably good deal compared to what else is out there in that price range.

Dammit! I shoulda snapped it up then! It was not in the best shape, but Im sure it still works flawlessly. If and when I go again and see it, I will get it. But I still think my OG Izhmash AK and the ones by Arsenal are better than the Norincos, but then again, are there any truly bad AKs?? Whats weird is that they didnt allow CHL holders in with their guns, BUT they didnt have the 30.06 sign at the door so I dunno, the 30.06 sign is the sign you have to have posted at the door clearly in Texas if CHL holders are not permitted inside. Maybe TechGuy can explain that one more....

I think that is a stipulation for renting out the convention hall for a gun show.

I think this goes along with them locking ALL actions. You can still go to some gun shows that do not do this, but every one at the reliant seems to do so.
